Heh, this way I decided to contact Jugez 6 years ago. I was young and full of inspiration. I did the remix faster than wrote the awkward e-mail

mp3 version of the mix – Prodigy – Poison (Give 2 Live).

Another early Poison mix. The mix has been inspired by the Poison’s intro (which appeared in the MFJG version of the track). This one of the mixes where I’ve used Liam’s voice as another sample. First version of Rock’n'roll has Liam’s “rhymes” which I took from one of first Liam’s video interview that was hosted by Neko ages ago at her old website. This is pretty funny Liam’s speech was very rhythmical these days, it was damn obvious to me. I just took the sound channel of the video and put it over the Rock’n'roll mix, I didn’t any time stretch or cut/paste, it just fit the track like Liam rhymed it out specially for the mix. It’s a quite magic, but the lyrics were Liam’s description of his music. Later I removed the sample from the remix to make it more “popular”, I didn’t want to make public think it’s a joke or fun, it was my personal art move. Hell knows why I put so much of sense into my work. Anyway, this Poison mix also use Liam’s voice a bit, but not really much, I had 64k limit per sample on the hardware.

Another early mix made as a 4 channel Amiga module file – Wind It Up. A funny mix that made under full rave inspiration. I never done drugs, I never drunk vodka or even a beer, but this mix put me inside another London rave party right in the middle of Siberia. The funny thing that there was nobody to appreciate the mix when I finished it. I was alone as a fuck in heaven (in sense of the music). Remember, if you want to destroy yourself, just come to a place when nobody need none of your talents except digging your own grave. Do you know why I’m still alive? I’ve seen my fan once, it was a girlfriend of my brother’s friend. That was quite a weird situation when they came to our home and she escaped from her boyfriend to my room to check out my music. Sounds too religiously, but it looked like God has sent me an angel instead just a fan, because she was quite perfect and that was a quite hardest moment of my life. I have to admit that there was a lot of magic in my life, you don’t have to be insane to notice that.

If you think this blog is a place for well known and boring Prodigy TSD remixes then you’re mistaken. There is a bunch of rare or never published mixes and related crap.

The Prodigy demo tape has been published a couple of weeks ago, and now I’m thinking – what the hell, it’s time for the OLD things”. Liam Howlett began with Roland W-30 with crappy features, I began with ZX-Spectrum. Today I’m going to start a “Early mixes” category.

What do you think I’m holding in my hand at this picture? Whatever you think – you’re mistaken. It’s a hardware mod-file player for ZX-Spectrum computer, world #1 computer, 20 years ago (if this makes difference to you). The sound card is “General Sound”, was developed by russian XL-Design scene group in 1997. It has 128kb of RAM (can be extented up to 512kb) and Zilog’s Z-80B as CPU running at 12Mhz. It’s not even Roland W-30, it’s not London’s underground, it’s something that came from level below Earth mantle. But that’s not a minus at all. Four 8-bit channels? No software? 500kb for samples? 3000 miles of taiga around? Shit features? Fuck W-30, fuck million dolars studio equipment, fuck school, fuck politics, fuck another Russia crisis, fuck the future, fuck the past – I got Poison. – That’s my 1998 and I’m 17.

And really, Poison is my favorite Prodigy track, I’ve done a dozen of mixes on it, some of them were not lost and will be uploaded to the site. The only sad thing that there is no “proper” TSD mix of Poison where I could use everything I know about sound, where I could find and dig out something with the same level. Unfortunataly, I’m not a citizen of UK, I’m not even a fan of Public Enemy, I’m a siberian dude, and a quite looser. But I should say I did my best in those old mixes with mentioned equipment. It’s a quite “Art of limitations”. Enjoy.
