A while ago some dude named Jim Pavloff published his Smack My Bitch rework video. The video is pretty neat. Though I don’t really see what’s the tribute in that. A lot of people been doing Prodigy reworks in their bedrooms. I know a guy who recreated Girls and Voodoo People in a couple of hours. It’s clearly the secret of SMB is the samples. I used to recreate some parts of originals in my remixes but I’ve never seen any sense in recreating whole tracks. I downloaded some original Jim’s stuff and it’s hardly related to the Prodigy. Sadly, I’m not DJ Tiesto and I won’t play his stuff. But still it’s fun to see it took 15 years to rework SMB. What’s next, exhumation of James Brown’s drummer?
